Dogs by Intake Date | Dogs by Adoption Date | Home Cosmo's Story November 19, 2003 - Cosmo was anything but a rottweiler - which didn't matter because he IS homeless. Everyone loved him, and today, more than anything, Julie's family loved him. Julie writes in January:
Last November I was looking for a dog for my daughter who is in 4H dog club here in Durham, NH. I came across The Rottie Connection website on Petfinder.com. On the web-stie there was another dog I was interested in and he was very cute. Not a Rottweiler (I think it was a coon hound or something like that). Dale emailed me back within the day and said she may have the perfect dog for our family, he was a shepherd mix and he was very friendly. She sent a few pictures of him and we went to meet him (and honestly, when I saw him, he looked more Rottweiler to me than anything else and that made me nervous knowing nothing about the breed, just knowing the bad reputation that they have. So I was at bit tentative having three kids one being only 2 months at the time). I went home the night we met him and decided to go for it. That next weekend Cosmo came home. It was love all around. This poor dog only wanted the love of a family. THATS IT! How could we even thought of saying no? So we brought him into a house that we just literally moved into, had the home inspection and everything was perfect. Cosmo is now in his second stage of obedience training (and his trainer said he is the fastest learner the she has ever seen). He started his agility training once a week and is loving that. Already has the jumps mastered. And at the end of February he starts a good citizens class so that he can go into nursing homes and bring all his love that he has to offer to others. All in all, Cosmo is one big ham and would do anything for our family or anybody just for a pat on the head. I can't thank Dale and The Rottie Connection enough for allowing us to own such a wonderful dog. Also, through Cosmo's vet visits and so forth we have come to the conclusion that Cosmo is approx. 85% Rottweiler and 15% of either Lab or Shepherd. And when everyone sees him now (he has gained a bit of weight since he has come here). They think Cosmo is a Rottweiler with a tail. Thanks so much everyone.....I can't express enough what joy The Rottie Connection brought to our family. |
