Special Projects
While all of our dogs are special, there are several instances where multiple dogs come from the same situation at the same time. These dogs usually are in need of extensive medical care or transportation costs. Our two biggest are the Jersey K9 Survivors and The Michigan Mission, and ongoing project. Your contributions will always help our dogs.
The Jersey K9 Survivors
January 2003 - On December 3, the SPCA in NJ confiscated 45 dogs from an unlit warehouse in Newark. These dogs were being used by Jersey K9 as "guard dogs". These dogs had mange, conjunctivitis, injuries, and were living in their own waste. Many of these dogs were euthanized immediately upon arriving at the shelter because of their extreme medical conditions. On January 9, 2003, AHS in Newark received word that these dogs were no longer 'evidence' and could be released to TRC. We evaluated every remaining rottweiler. Three passed. Please meet... The Michigan Mission
November 2002 - Many counties in Michigan practice what is called "Pound Siezure". In these cases, Class B dealers purchase stray animals (for ~$10 each) from the the shelters and sell them to research facilities, among other places at a tremendous profit (several hundred to thousands of dollars). Most people can only speculate the torture these animals endure. TRC, in conjunction with Rottweiler Rescue of Michigan, has agreed to periodic transports of evaluated dogs from these shelters. The Michigan Mission is an ongoing project. Read More
