 Eli's Story

December 5, 2003 - Eli's story is the kind every rescue person has - a rags to riches, happy ending. One year ago today, Eli was confiscated with 45 other dogs from a rat-infested, unlit warehouse in Newark. (whole story - start at the bottom of the page). In the past 11 1/2 months, Eli has made the magic transformation from a fearful bully to a loving family companion. Mid-November, he met Ann & Sami. He had a play date that has evolved into a two week sleep over, and today has ended in his FOREVER HOME!  He is a true testament to how solid a rottweiler's temperament can be. Congratulations to his new mom Ann and his canine sister Sami and most of all, Congratulations to Eli for overcoming the odds and proving that he was worth all of the energy we put into him! (Dale is crying).

Eli

Words just don't paint the right picture of Eli. He's a cool dog. He's come really far in foster care - and he's now a really relaxed country rottweiler. I admit that Eli's not the right dog for everyone, but he's really looking to find that one special person and that's all he needs. Eli is a social man of about 5 years. He has learned the fine art of "The Rottie Lean". He prefers women, but that's just because he lives with a lot of them. He wants a calm household (adults preferred) - one without a lot of people traffic. He gets along well with dogs smaller than he is - his best friends are a papillon, a pitbull, and a couple of rottie girls ~ He's actually afraid of dogs his own size. He is safe with A cat. Eli's a pretty sensitive guy. If you are willing to take a little time, he'll be your best friend. Because he wants a best friend (besides his foster mom). Eli is pretty laid back - he prefers not to hike, and he'd rather watch the other dogs swim than participate with them. He is obedience trained, crate trained, house trained, rides very well in the car, and has appropriate manners. Eli waits patiently for someone to make his dream come true. More Awesome Eli Pics
