 Astra's Story

February 23, 2003 - Astra and her siblings were surrendered to an urban NJ shelter when they were about 8 weeks old. Mom too, because - well, mom went out and got herself pregnant after all. Today, Astra joined Barbara & Dean from NH as their forever dog!

Along with her obedience completion certificate, Barbara said "Astra has been a wonderful addition to the family and the other dogs love her a lot. She has even helped my golden lose 6 lbs and my akita to lose 8 lbs! They play ALL the time together and when enough is enough, my akita Ruby lets her know it is time to stop. It has been so much fun having her here; she is lovable and very smart. I have even taken her to school twice to visit the fourth grade classroom I work in. She loves little kids, my neighbors and has even given those not too fond of rotties a different imperssion.

All in all, it has beena lot of work, but I sure am loving it andfeel truly blessed to have fallen upon my "little treasure" so unexpectedly. She is now six months old and 51 lbs. "

October 5, 2003 - Astra is now 10 month old and 70 pounds, she has completed her third level of obedience training and will hopefully be starting agility classes. She listen pretty well off the lease, but the squirrels and chipmunk are more fun than I am! She is friends with our neighbor's Rottie Bailey. Astra is not the bravest dog, but she is the cutest!! Her biggest problem is that she has to sleep with someone at night, she hates to be by herself, she's a big LAP dog.

Astra also has her own web page at: http://users.adelphia.net/~dkacos/Astra.htm
