"A unique blend of Dalmatian and Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. . . with maybe a dash of Rottweiler, Chloe was a beautiful and powerful dog. She enjoyed racing the wind and climbing hills! Today, February 5, 2004, Chloe made her final journey enveloped in my loving.embrace. She did not die an agonizing death in a painful lab experiment that might have been her fate in the Michigan shelter where she was found. Neither did she die the anonymous death offered by shelters around the country. All the same, at two years old, her passing was.premature. I will always rememeber her exuberamce and joy, She enjoyed herself thoroughly whether playing or soliciting a belly rub. Her smile always lifted my spirits. Chloe HAD to greet you with something in her mouth. I remember her racing up the stairs like Wonder Woman trailing her blanket-cape on her way to play in the yard! At supper time. . .and she was always ready to eat. . .Chloe would stand with her stainless bowl in her mouth like Snoopy. . .wiggling her butt in high expectation. . . tapping out a dinner dance with her happy feet! Chloe was one of those vocal dogs who would growl the story of their lives to anyone in earshot. Sometimes those growls would put people off, but she was just "talking" Rottie. Unfortunately, Chloe also had some real triggers that would cause her to act irrationally. . .and she could change from loving to aggressive in a blink. We will never know what caused her to act unpredictably, but I am sure that she is free of her demons and waiting at the Bridge for me with a bowl in her mouth. Dear Chloe, be at peace. Race the wind. I know you will make me happy when we meet again. " ~Linda Goodman |
