 Suki's Story

May 21, 2003 - Suki joined us as part of Michigan Mission III. Scheduled to be sold for medical research, Suki was transported with several of her black & tan friends across Canada to TRC. Suki was adopted almost immediately by Shelley & Chris, their cat, and their chihuahua, Cindarella.

Shelley wrote: "She and Cinderella get along well. Suki slept fine in her crate. She went right to sleep once she was in it for the night. She loved the crate. She tried getting in it while we were setting it up...too funny. She doesn't even pay any attention to the cat. She accidentally walked up to the chair she was sitting on under the table and Cleo swiped at her. Suki just looked at her and walked away, like she couldn't be bothered. WHEW! She is such a love. Thank you so much. Chris was smiling all night. I am sure we will have lots of pictures, Ryan took a few last night."

June 30, 2003 Update - "Suki was a Michigan dog, she was about to be sent to be a reasearch dog. They wanted her for her brains, but not in the good way. When I think about all the dogs that weren't saved from that horror it kills me. I wish we could adopt them all. But, back to the Sukster... We waited so long for her. The adoption process took almost 4 months, but I understand why. TRC wants to have a perfect match so the dogs are in their "forever homes"! And Suki is definitely in her "forever home"!

She lives with 4 humans; Chris, Shelley, Ryan (11) and Jessica (4) a feisty Chihuahua named Cinderella (Rella for short) and Cleo the cat. Cleo isn't happy about our newest addition, but she is adjusting. Suki's first week was filled with excitement when she cut her back paw. She didn't seem to be bothered by it, but we were. She met her new vet Michelle at Shawsheen Animal Hospital. She was very good to us and put a nice bandage on her with blue paw prints on it. Suki wasn't bothered by the bandage, but she wasn't happy about the cone on her head to keep her from ripping at her foot. The poor girl. In her short 10 months she had been through so much and now this.

Time healed her foot and she is running around like the 11 month old she is. Still very clumsy. She gently plays with Cinderella and the kids. She starts her obediance training on July 14 (Tamara's B-day!), although she knows sit and come pretty well. She is such a good dog. Thanks TRC and Tamara for a perfect fit. ~ Shelley, Chris, Ryan, Jessica, Cinderella, Suki and Cleo"
