Dogs by Intake Date | Dogs by Adoption Date | Home Storm's Story December 3, 2003 - Storm was adopted by Yvonne & Allen and their two rotties Rascal & Shadow. "Storm found his forever family. After a weekend visit this family decided that he was the dog for them. Even though he does play a little rough, they understand that he is still an older puppy. When I saw him last night with this family, I was glad to see how at home and happy Storm was," said Storm's foster mom. Congratulations to Storm and his new family!
When a dog trainer and animal behaviorist was asked to assess Storm, he thought the boy might do well in a quiet refuge with no demands put upon him. Danielle and her family offered such a place, and for the next 7 weeks, Storm was given food, space, and love. I was asked to evaluate this boy after he had been fostered for 2 months. Storm greeted me with a wagging nub and a great smile! He was undisturbed by the crowd of people gathered to watch his test. The dogs barking in the kennel, and my own Shea just perked his curiosity. He showed no food or resource guarding at all and presented the picture of a fine Rottie boy!! He was on his way! Storm shows us how a great Rottie temperament can prevail given the chance. Now Storm is being fostered in a home where he socializes with 4 other Rotties (three females and a male) and a cat! He continues to make progress EVERY day, and is now available for adoption into the right home! This experienced Rottie owner will adopt a dog who is friendly, open, obedient, and a continual source of pride. This neutered Rottie who is UTD on shots, sends us the message that, given a chance, even formerly "unadoptable" dogs can heal. |
